My work explores the intersection of socio-political structures
and personal narratives, emerging from lived experience in Punjab, shaped by growing up in Gujranwala and later moving to Lahore, where I continue to live and work. I make this commentary through a fictional character that also
serves as an alter ego. Partly inspired by the Punjabi folk figure of Jugni, a woman who embarked on a quest to find her beloved, traversing towns and cities, while narrating all she encounters. Jugni becomes a positional lens through which I observe, record, and question everyday performances of authority, entitlement, and vulnerability, leaving these encounters open-ended in their contradictions, without providing conclusive resolutions.
